Portland Costume Symposium
last update: 20 Nov 2008

devoted to Costume, its uses, and its creation - in all their myriad forms.

A gathering of professional and amateur costumers for the purposes of networking, knowledge-sharing, and just plain gabbing about costumes.

Combining the qualities of a costumers' convention and a fashion (or theatre) institute, this three-day event strives to bring you the best in instructors and suppliers available in the Portland (OR) area as well as a rollicking good time with other costumers and costume aficianados.

We also plan to have representatives from a wide variety of re-enactment and "live" (LARP) F/SF groups and costume-, textile-, and embellishment-related guilds.

While we are planning on having numerous activities, we are still in site-search mode and will be doing the 'real' planning when we have secured a venue and know what resources we have available. As to the date, that is also unsettled and will have a lot to do with what site we use.
If we use a college/university/etc, the event will be in the summer so we can have dorm rooms for residence rooms. (And these places are already set up as teaching sites! They have A/V equipment, sufficient plug-ins, etc!
If a hotel is chosen, the dates open up but the set-up possibilities may be less. The trade-off - residence rooms are a no-brainer....

Oh, you want to know what year, at least.... Probably 2010 as I don't know if it can be brought together for 2009. 'Course the more help we get, the faster it can happen.... (hint, hint)
We are also looking for sponsors (more hinting, eh...)
